The directors of Avengers: Endgame have said that they withheld the film’s full script from Tom Holland after the actor’s poor track record of revealing spoilers.

The 22-year-old actor, who portrays Spider-Man in the Marvel universe, has such a bad reputation for letting movie plot points slip that director brothers Anthony and Joe Russo were forced to give him a separate script of his lines only.

“Yeah, Tom Holland does not get the script,” Joe told IndieWire. “Tom Holland gets his lines and that’s it. He doesn’t even know who he’s acting opposite. We use very vague terms to describe to him what is happening in the scene, because he has a very difficult time keeping his mouth shut.”

It’s not the first time that measures have been put in place for Holland to safeguard production secrets. Doctor Strange’s Benedict Cumberbatch had to stay close to Holland while promoting Avengers: Infinity War in the hope that slip-ups could be avoided [via BBC Newsbeat].

In July 2018 Holland went on Instagram to talk to his fans about ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming 2’. While he said he couldn’t reveal much, he proceeded to show viewers a tablet with the script’s front page on full display, revealing that the movie would officially be called Spider-Man: Far From Home [via Variety].

According to BBC Newsbeat, Holland also said during press interviews that Marvel was planning a trilogy of films to focus on the adventures of Peter Parker before that had been announced.
