Footage of Deftones performing their 1997 single ‘Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away)’ for the first time has been unearthed.

The song featured on the group’s second album ‘Around The Fur’, which was also released in 1997.

Now, a fan named Walker Edmonson has discovered the old clip and shared it online. The video sees the band performing the track at The Press Club in their hometown of Sacramento, California in September 1997.

Frontman Chino Moreno can be heard telling the crowd: “This is our first show we’ve played in a long-ass fucking time. This song is called ‘Be Quiet And Drive’.” You can watch the performance below now.

Meanwhile, Moreno gave an update on the band’s upcoming ninth album last month, saying it reminded him of their third album ‘White Pony’. “We’re definitely getting into experimental sort of modes, which is the funnest phase that we get into,” he said. “One of the biggest records in our career is obviously ‘White Pony’, and it’s our most commercially successful record, as well, but that was also one of our most experimental records, especially for the time when it came out.”

He added: “If anything I would say that [I’m reminded of] ‘White Pony’, that record in general, because it was probably us at our most experimental.”

Last year, Deftones teased fans by sharing photos from the studio, with Moreno revealing they had written “six or seven songs” by that point.

In 2017, the frontman told NME: “When we make records, we don’t really talk about what we’re trying to do or what our ideas are for it, we kind of just go in and make music. That’s what keeps it fresh for us. We don’t try to box ourselves in to these pre-conceived ideas, but we have talked about getting together sooner [rather] than later to start making noise together – just out of pure excitement of creating music.”
